Heavy Duty Forged Open Body HDG Turnbuckles

We Feature Drop Forged, Hot Dipped Galvanized Open Body, Light to Heavy Duty Turnbuckles for Tensioning Tower and Mast Steel Strand and Wire Rope Down Guys to their Anchor Points. Turnbuckles of this Nature are typically rated in both Ultimate Tensile Strength (Breaking Point), and Working Load Limit (with Ultimate Strength being 5 times the WLL) conforming to Federal Spec FF-T-791B Type 1 Form 1

As Turnbuckles are paired with the HS or EHS Stranded Steel or Wire Rope Down Guy they tension; it is recommended that the WLL (Working Load Limit) of the Turnbuckle be paired with the anticipated tension requirements of the Down Guy Wire and or Ultimate Tensile Strength Appropriately, as to match Tension Limits. Further, Always use Heavy Duty, Hot Dip Galvanized Thimble appropriately sized to the Strand or the Pre-formed Dead-End terminating the Down Guy to the Turnbuckle to assure the Tension is Transferred evenly without "Pinch Points".

The initial Tensioning of a guy should be 10% of the Ultimate Tensile Strength of the HS or EHS strand used to be within travel window of the Turnbuckle.

Measuring the tension of a Tower Down Guy can be by means of Mechanical analog device meters, Electronic devices with some utilizing Lasers or observation calculation. Many will use the "Vibration Method", where you observe the resonant Frequency in cycles per minute of wave travel across the known length and size of strand after striking it at it's current tension. Though it may seem less than "Scientific" in absence of a Measurement by a device; it has been, and continues to be used by and in printed circulation by Large Companies in the Trade.
