Low Voltage Boxes
Electrical boxes designed for low-voltage use may be backless or in some way more open allowing easier access and wiring. Typical low-voltage signals include video, telephone, and network wiring. These boxes are not rated for High Voltage (Such as 115 VAC). They are typically categorized as "Old Work" or "New Work" boxes. Old Work would indicate use after the drywall has been installed and finished, New work would intonate that you are installing the box before the sheet rock or drywall has been placed, and you will be using the integral nails to affix to a wooden stud.
