ROHN SCK150 Safety Tether Cable Kit for Non-Pen Roof Mounts
This Safety Cable System is used to Securely Tether Ballast dependent Roof Mount Appurtenances such as any FRM (Flat Roof Mount Series Antenna Mast, etc.) to stay in Position on the Roof in the Event of Movement due to Excessive Wind, Seismic Events, and other unforeseen anomalies. Though the components are akin to those used in “Guying” a similar structure in place, it is not being used as “Guy wire” or “Down-guy” in the traditional sense as it would necessitate the invasive installations of anchor points around the base and through the roof structure, entirely defeating the purpose of a non-penetrating mount. Rather, think of it as a “Leash” that keeps the dog on the roof where it belongs should the unforeseen occur.
One simply takes one end of the wire, wraps it a couple times around the Antenna Mast where it joins the bottom tray and close that cable end loop back upon itself with (3) of the (6) cable clamps provided, then run it through a hole in each of the concrete cinder blocks (ballast) if desired, and look to run the cable towards and attach the other end to; a single anchor point (in the opposite direction away from the roof edge or critical exposed structure); whether it be an existing one from original or prior construction, or your introduction of an anchor point to an existing rooftop structure above the roofline itself and weatherproofing material.
This cable does not need to be taut with any tension but slack, with excess cable cut away and then close the cable loop back upon itself with the remaining (3) cable clamps provided for this purpose. Obviously, both would require engagement with the owner or building maintenance staff there at the Commercial Property involved for approval.
